No Planning Permission Required
Annexes are usually exempt from planning permission due to the Caravan Act. We do recommend that we obtain a Lawful Development Certificate from your Council - we will even handle this process on your behalf.

About Norwegian Log Annexes
Annexes sited in the garden for the exclusive use of a family member are usually exempt from planning permission. You can read more about this in our handy guide to mobile home Planning Permission. Or contact us for some straightforward advice.
We do recommend that we obtain a Lawful Development Certificate from your Council which confirms that planning permission isn't required - we will even handle this process on your behalf. If Planning Permission is required, our experts will be happy to guide you through the process and deal with the application.
Our granny annex structures range from 311sq.ft all the way to 1,356sq.ft. Having standard options of 1-4 bedrooms, the more you need, the larger the granny annex will be.
We have two methods, depending on the access available. We deliver the pre-manufactured components to your site, ready for our experts to assemble. Alternatively, if crane access is available, we can deliver our mobile granny annexes to your site in pre-assembled sections.
Bear in mind that your granny annex adds value and buyer appeal to your current property. Should you move to a new house, it probably makes better financial sense to leave your annex behind and buy a new one for your new property. If you do decide to relocate your annex, our mobile log homes can be removed and re-assembled in the same way as they are delivered.
Yes, we cover the entire UK. Over the last 20 years there are probably very few areas that we have not worked in and we are geared up to work nationwide.
This is dependent on your local authority policy. If the granny annexe is used by a relative over 65 or a dependent relative it will typically be exempt from council tax, otherwise up to 50% Council Tax is payable.
All our granny annexes have floor plans that meet DDA guidelines for disabled access. These can be further adapted to suit individual requirements. We also offer several options to make life easier and safer. For example, we can provide a remotely controlled (Wi-Fi) heating system that enables you or a relative to control the heating via a smart phone or laptop. We can also provide a monitoring system that uses sensors to measure movement and temperature in the granny annex. It maintains privacy (no cameras or microphones) while detecting any lack of movement that might suggest a fall or illness.
Yes, the Norwegian Log team are able to design and install our annexes as structure-only.
With structure-only, you will receive on site assembly, all internal walls and doors, roof tiles and insulation, leaving the annexe ready for internal fixtures and fitting.
